Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Is there any radiation emitted that could be harmful to my baby?
Your monitor is perfectly safe to use for any baby.
The sensor pad and its cord are entirely passive, ie: they carry no electrical current and do not radiate ANY form of energy around them and are therefore safe to use when there is lightening about or if there is a power surge.
The nursery unit emits a very low power radio signal through its antenna, this signal does not present a safety hazard to baby at all. All Angelcare monitors are tested independently and meet strict safety standards. All Angelcare monitors are approved by ICASA,( Independent Communications Authority of South Africa)

2. How many channels are there to choose from?
Your monitor has 8 channels.

3. What thickness mattress should I use?
The Angelcare sensor pad detects movement through any thickness or type of cot mattress. There is no limitation as far as thickness goes. The sensor pad is also suitable to use with a sprung mattress.

4. How long do I need to charge the batteries for before we use the parent unit for the first time?
15hours

5. Will the Angelcare monitor work in a double storey home with concrete slabs
Yes, it works beautifully in a double storey-home, there is no problem with reception
250m in open air

6. Can you use the Angelcare monitors to monitor twins/triplets?
Yes:

You will need the following: 1 x Angelcare Sound and Movement monitor AC401
1 x Angelcare Movement only monitor AC300
Alternatively : 2 x Angelcare Sound and Breathing Monitors

How do I set up for Twins/triplets multiple births?
To monitor the breathing of more than one baby, each baby needs to be monitored on a separate mattress with their own sensor pad under their mattress, as each baby has a different breathing rate. The reason that you cannot monitor more than one baby on the same mattress is that if one baby were to stop breathing, the movement of the healthy baby would continue to be picked up by the sensor pad and the monitor would not alarm. It is therefore recommended that each baby be monitored separately.

You will need the following: 1 x Angelcare Sound and Movement monitor AC401
1 x Angelcare Movement only Monitor AC300

Set up the AC401 (sound and breathing monitor) for baby not 1 as per the instructions: placing the sensor pad underneath baby‟s mattress and plug it into the nursery unit. This will now detect baby‟s breathing throughout the entire cot.
For the second baby, you can either set up another AC401 or the Angelcare AC300 (movement only monitor) place the sensor pad underneath the baby‟s mattress and plug it into its nursery unit. This monitor will now detect the baby‟s breathing. The sound from both babies will be monitored by the Angelcare unit from baby#1 which is the sound and breathing monitor.
Any sound in the babies‟ room will be picked up by the microphone on Baby #1‟s nursery unit ie: if either baby cries, this sound will be relayed to the parent unit from the microphone in the AC401 nursery unit. Equally if either baby were to stop breathing, the sound of either nursery unit‟s alarm will be relayed to the parent unit by the microphone on the AC401 nursery unit.
Alternatively: 2 x Angelcare sound and breathing monitors. In this case, you would set one monitor up for
each baby, as you would do for a single child.
