mattress and the sensor pad
cover the full base of the cot
positioned in the centre of the cot and turn up the sensitivity of the sensor pad to level 5
2. Alarm will not sound, even though baby is not in the cot
Your Sound and breathing monitor may be programmed for sound only. On this setting, the sensor pad has been deactivated and will not detect movement even if it is plugged into the nursery unit. Check that the mode of your monitor is set for sound and movement.
If your monitor is set as above and still not alarming, please send it in to your nearest Angelcare stockist and we will arrange to have it sent in for repair.
3. The nursery unit is detecting movement even though baby is not in the crib
The sensor pad is designed to be extremely sensitive to pick up the tiny movements of a baby's breathing. You may need to decrease the sensitivity of the sensor pad by adjusting the dial at the back of the nursery unit. (0 indicates the least sensitive, with 5 indicating the most sensitive setting)
Note that the sensor pad may detect movement from many sources both inside and outside your baby‟s room eg: a strong draft on the crib, a fan on in the room, air-conditioners, washing machine, loud music and vibration from the floor.
Make sure that you are not touching the cot or nearby compactum or walking around in the room opening and closing cupboards etc.
Place the crib against a solid wall
When the monitor is in use, do not use crib mobile or other accessories that produce vibrations as the sensor pad will detect these movements
4. There is no connection between my parent unit and the nursery unit
When there is no transmission between the parent unit and the nursery unit, the parent unit shows (--) two lines across the screen and flashes the nursery unit icon.
This indicates that the parent unit has lost signal with its partner nursery unit.
To reconnect press the menu button on the parent unit and hold it in until the satellite signal starts flashing, then proceed to the nursery unit and press the clear button just below the night light, hold that in until it makes a beep sound. Your two units should now reconnect, and you will now be able to access the main menu.
If this still doesn‟t connect, then there is a problem with your nursery unit and you will need to send it in to us to repair
5. Parent unit 'loses signal' and switches 'off'
After a minute of switching my monitor on, the sound function switches off, then switches on again when I go into baby‟s room ( I cannot hear the radio playing in baby‟s room even though my monitor is on.)
Your monitor is pre-programmed to be on the voice activated mode
With this setting, your parent unit only transmits sound to you when baby makes a sound, ie: when there is no sound coming from the baby‟s room for more than 30 seconds, your monitor switches to "sleep" mode and "switches off", until baby makes a sound which will then trigger the microphone to relay that sound to your parent unit.
On the voice activated option, sounds from a television, radio or music mobile will not trigger the voice activated option and will not be heard through your monitor when on that setting.
6. I can hear my baby crying down the passage before I hear it on the monitor
Your monitor is on the voice activated option and you need to adjust the sound activation microphone sensitivity. Press the menu button 3 times, you will now see the voice activated icon in the top left corner of your screen, your screen should show the word ON, indicates that it is on the voice activated mode. Now press the menu button again, you will see what looks like the volume bars on the left side of the screen. Using the arrow keys on the right hand side, you can increase or decrease the sensitivity of the microphone (the higher the sensitivity the less sound required to activate the microphone). Once you have made your adjustment, press the select button, then press the exit button to save your selection and to return to the main menu.
Alternatively, you can change the microphone setting from voice activated to continuous sound function. On this setting your microphone is live all the time and never switches into standby mode. See below...
7. How do I deactivate the voice activated option I would like to hear every little sound from baby's room
To deactivate the voice activated mode: press the menu button 3 times, you will now see the voice activated icon in the top left corner of your screen, and your screen will show the word ON, indicating that it is on the voice activated mode. Now press the arrow key on the right hand side to change this to read OFF. To store this setting, press the select button, then press the exit button to save your selection and to return to the main menu.
8. How do I change the channel?
To change a channel, press the select button and hold it in until the satellite dish icon starts flashing, then press the arrow keys on the right hand side to scroll through the channels, you will see the channel number changing on your screen. When you have made your selection, press the select button again and it will store that channel and return you to the main menu.
9. Can I use my monitor without the sensor pad?
Yes, however, you will need to change the mode of your monitor to sound only mode. Press the menu button once, the mode of your monitor will now start flashing. Use the arrow keys on the right hand side to scroll through the different modes until you can isolate the "sound" icon (sideways view of a face). Now press the select button, followed by the exit button to save your selection and to return to the main menu. You will know you have successfully deactivated your sensor pad, if you now only see the "sound‟ icon on your parent unit screen.
10. Parent unit does not charge or hold its charge. (My parent unit only works in the charging cradle, as soon as I take it out the cradle it switches off )
Check that all 4 rechargeable batteries (included with your monitor) are in the battery compartment and placed correctly. If not, they will not charge and therefore there is no charge available to the parent unit when it is removed from its cradle.
When you place your parent unit in the charging cradle, you should see the battery icon appear in the top right hand corner showing charging.
You should charge the batteries for at least 15hrs before first use.
11. The parent unit screen goes blank when the parent unit is in the charging cradle it initially shows the battery cell charging in the top right hand corner, then goes completely blank / switches off
This is correct, your monitor does this to save power, if you are not sure if it is charging or not, switch on your parent unit and you will see the battery icon in the top right hand corner accepting charge.
12. The Parent unit gives a constant intermittent beep
The batteries may be flat
Your nursery unit may be switched off and your parent unit is searching for a signal
Your room thermometer alarm is alerting you that the temp in baby‟s room has either gone above or below the temperature parameters that you have set
You may have pressed the paging button at the top of the nursery unit to reset, switch parent unit and nursery unit off and on again
The parent unit has lost the signal of its partner nursery unit. Follow the instructions to reconnect the parent unit to the nursery unit (point no.3)
13. What is the ‘ticking’ noise that I hear when I switch the parent unit on?
The ticking sound that you hear is an auditory reassurance to you to let you know that the sensor pad is picking up your baby‟s breathing, it ticks every time the sensor pad detects a movement from baby.
14. Can I turn the 'ticking’ noise off'
Yes you can, simply select button followed by the exit button to save this selection into your main menu. Once press the menu button once, the mode of your monitor will now start flashing, showing you all three icons, (the "tick", "sound" and "sensor pad"). Press the arrow key on the right hand side several times until you remove the "tick" icon ( looks like pendulum) , so that only the "sound" and "sensor pad" icons are highlighted. Then press the you are done, you will still see the pendulum icon moving from side to side on your parent unit, showing you that it is picking up the baby's breathing, however, you will now not hear the ticking noise.
15. How do I set up for Twins/triplet?
To monitor the breathing of more than one baby, each baby needs to be monitored on a separate mattress with their own sensor pad under their mattress, as each baby has a different breathing rate The reason that you cannot monitor more than one baby on the same mattress is that if one baby were to stop breathing, the movement of the healthy baby would continue to be picked up by the sensor pad and the monitor would not alarm. It is therefore recommended that each baby be monitored separately.
